Born nineteen years ago in Solanthus to Lord Bestil "Bessy" Lane and his wife Lady Clara. Being their first child, she was very spoiled and looked after closely. Four years later along came her brother Effin. From the start he was a rowdy babe and has not let up since so has been sent off to the academy in Ergoth to groom him properly for manhood. As a child Caleta spent much time with her father, always wanting to go out with him on the ships and docks to see all the work he did and how he became so rich. She adored daddy and even when he wouldnt let her stay for meetings with clients, she snuck in unseen to eavesdrop and was never heard. Her mother was usually off on some trip to buy antiques or visit family. When she was home she was not the most loving type a daughter could want. She was not a bad mother, only somewhat aloof to the needs of a small girl. So Caleta grew up mostly with the aid of her ladies maid, tutors, and the other servants in their home. She became quite close with the wife of the man overseeing her father's fields. Miss Loycie had no children of her own so doted on Caleta as most everyone did. She showed her as she got older a very important technique she might need in the future. With her ability to hide in shadows she became quite skilled in this venture she was taught. Miss Loycie had a fondness for knives you see. Tiny little things you wouldn't think could do much damage, but over the years she had learned the most efficient spots to aim for and was an excellent marksman. She showed these things to Caleta to protect herself in the event that she needed it. As she grew into a young woman her father began to take her along on business trips as a companion since his wife refused , considering it dirty man's work. Lady Clara did not have a head for business. Caleta however was quick to learn the ropes and even had a few ideas of her own. She continued to accompany him and even went in his stead on a few occasions. When attending balls, courts, and galahs she met and wooed valuable contacts and brought in more money for her father's company. With her help on his campaign , Lord Bestil was elected Head Consort of the Merchant Guild, with Lane Imports & Exports being the base of his power and wealth. In recent months since his appointment he has moved to Abanasinia , staying at the Good Bay Inn while his home in Solanthus is being remodeled for his daughter to take on as her own. He was forced to give Caleta part of her dowery early for her to join him in what she considered "country living". A very large and rare Emerald ring encrusted with sparkling diamonds, set in two entertwined bands of shining gold. It was a part of his mother's large banquet of jewelry and was put aside for Caleta because it exactly matched the color of her eyes. Finally after he relented to give it to her she agreed to come to Good Bay but only if he allowed her to travel unguarded to other nearby towns for shopping. Getting her way as usual, she went and ended up in Zaradene making quite a few new contacts. One of which is very promising.
