OverviewWith respect to the orders, they really are meant to, and I would like it to stay this way, be independently functioning. That is, the High Knight in each order is responsible for the day to day operations of that order. This means that promotions and reprimands should be handled only by the High Knight of that order. When necessary, the other High Knights, or myself, can go around this. If you are in a position where you need to reassign a knight in another order, or think they should be promoted, demoted, whipped or chained, etc. please first go through the leader of that order, Use the opportunity for rp. Real life intrudes and things happen. If the guild rp is stalling while waiting to go through another leader then do what needs to be done, but make every effort to advise everyone what you have done. By stalling, I sort of don’t mean you waited 3 hours and gave up. Try to be realistic and give people a chance to respond. Use the forum’s PM if you need to. It is a requirement that all guild members be registered on the forums, so we should all be able to communicate.
Guild BookThere is a guild book available on the forums, and maybe if we are really patient and nice, one of the staff can turn it into an “in game” item for us. Please make every attempt to follow the guidelines set forth in the guild book. Obviously, things that are not foreseen happen, and game mechanics may at times make some things impractical. The guild book is not meant as an absolute set of rules, specifically, there should be no confusion that the staff is not bound by.
ForumsThe use of the forums is a requirement for all guild members. We are not all on at the same time, sometimes we are unable to stop in, the Guild rp should not suffer for any of us. Things need to keep moving. It is not hard, just a simple IC report dispatched to your commanders on significant events. If you’re a knight, something happens, your high knight logs on, great, report in person! If you are the high knight that received the report, it is something critical or a decent role-play hook, and the other council knights are not on, then you report. If we do this, is allows us all to keep up with what we miss and jump right in when we are here. It also allows the DM’s to see how is aware of what, and who else may have been potentially pulled into one of their storylines.
The High Knights are required to maintain an up to date forum thread regarding their order. It should contain the order’s current roster and be used for rp pertaining to the order (i.e. dispatches to all the knights of that order, official orders between the High Knight and subordinates, etc.)
Keep commanders are also required to maintain a forum thread for their command. Similar to the thread maintained by the High Knight of you order, it should detail all of the knights currently assigned to your command and their current assignments. This thread should also be used for rp pertaining to the keep (i.e. dispatches to subordinates, rp activities relating to the command, and just general business as necessary).
ParticipationIf you want to be in the guild, you have to make an effort to log on sometimes, twice a week is not all that much. At the very least, you must check the forums and respond so that we all know you are alive. If you are in a leadership role (i.e., on the council or commander of a garrison) this requirement is not really negotiable. It is not fair to hold up rp or tie up positions that could be filled by people with the desire to play them.
In the interest of keeping things moving, I think we should all consider things to be of the following priority:
1. DM Storylines or quests
2. Guild rp (tend to your squire, allow your knights to report, check in on them, whatever)
3. Leveling, money running, everything else.
Keep CommandersIf you are posted at, or commander of a keep, that’s a very cool thing with lots of possibilities. Spend some time there. Use the big chairs from time to time! Be visible and available. If you are the commander of the keep, Start a thread on the forums, use it to communicate with your subordinates the way the high knights communicate with you. Before long, a chain of command has emerged! Make things happen!
Guild GearThe only requirement to use items is to be a member of the guild. I agree with this, as in terms of game mechanics, it would be quite tedious for the staff to make three distinct sets (one for each order) for each grade of item. This work doesn't really add much value and I am sure there are lots of other things that would benefit everyone which they are working on.
The only guild imposed restriction is, and I think it is a relatively minor restriction that has rp value and some practical benefit, is in relation to the cloaks. Which ever cloak you are using, If it is not the one for your order (meaning it is not your color; blue for Crown, silver for Sword, red for Rose) Please dye it that color. Please fell free to craft your armor, shield and everything else to your personal taste. Let us just keep the cloak as our defining "uniform"
Personal QuartersPlease DO NOT purchase personal quarters in any keep unless you are stationed there. Every Knight should have a permanent keep assignment. If you transfer, please transfer you quarters. At the moment, there are not a large amount of knights, so feel free to allow your squires to quarter in the keep with you. If, eventually, there are no free quarters due to a high population of knights, knights take precedence so squires will have to be quartered outside of the keep. The keep Commanders are responsible for keeping track of this, and should do so however is convenient and practical.
