~the crystal chandelier, dangling high in the vaulting ceilings of the Inn of the Silver Dragon, shone white spangles of light down upon the resplendent dance floor. Hundreds were in attendance and the guest list was a who's who of Solamnic court life and high society.

Noblemen and Noblewomen paraded into the Inn and after formal announcements haughtily rubbed elbows with the other elite and wealthy. Knight lords, politicians, high ranking priests and wealthy nobles from every corner of the nation had all come out to see the ascension into womanhood of one Caleta Lane. A daughter of a wealthy Solanthus trading baron, Caleta was born to privilege and the court, such was the reason for the attendance of so many of the worlds power brokers.


Her eyes were bright and excited as she stared out the window of the carriage that whisked her towards her surprise. Her companion, Zach Fenson smiled at her as he poured her a glass of wine.

"Here my dear, shant be long now, isn't this possibly the most comfortable and well appointed coach service?"he handed her the wine and then tended to his own glass.

"Yes Zach, but, what is the meaning of all of this?" she smiled at him expectantly.

"Have you always gotten your way, I told you it is a surprise, and you will simply have to wait" he smirked, self assured and confident.

Caleta mocked anger for a brief second, before breaking into a giggle, of course she loved surprises, and this one promised to be more unexpected than most.

It had only been a few weeks since she had formally met Zach Fenson, the son of a wealthy Palanthas trader, and well known business rival of her fathers. The Fenson's and Lane's were both old and influential families, the war had made them both all the more so and even though they were rivals the two families were about the same thing, wealth, and the power that can be bought with it.

Two days prior to the party Zach had approached the owner of the Silver Dragon with his request, which of course was initially refused, but as the young noble had learned early on, money talked and alot of it made bold statements. One Hundred Thousand gold pieces and the Inn would put the party on, handle the arrangements and travel the two from Solanthus to Palanthus by way of the most regal of carriage services.


The Horses silver bells jingled there way to the front entrance of the Inn, stopping slowly as to not jar the passengers. A porter hastily leapt from the drivers seat onto the muddy ground, taking a purple and red carpet from a storage compartment he laid it out across the mud, all the way to the door before he opened the door.

Zach swaggered out first, and extended his hand.

A delicate and porcelain white hand extended from the carriage interior slowly, alighted on Zachs hand and was gently drawn out of the Carriage.

The night air was crisp and the scent of lillac and rosemary was on the air, both breathed deeply and then trod the carpet path to the door.


The grand entrance of the debutante was nothing short of raucous. The Inn resounded with the sound of clapping and hooting. Caleta Blushed a deep red but kept her composure as all daughters of the court do. Zach beemed in the spotlight, soaking up all the attention he could get, as usual.

After the usual glad handing meet and greets the two took drinks and sat down to enjoy the company of a far flung Silvanesti Elfmaid who had met the two in Good Bay not days before. after much boring talk of the plight of the elves Zach grew weary and began to drink more and more, soon becoming quite drunk. Without embarrassing himself too much he made his way to a room upstairs to sleep off the wine which he had no stomach for.
