A large woman dressed in dusty black armour with blue trim, made interesting sport for Faylin, since the other patrons of the Inn were local rubes. Poking fun at the farmers and militia was far too easy, but this one, thought Faylin, obviously a Blue Dragon Soldier, was worth her time. Her acid wit made short work of an adventurer who sat at a table nearby. Faylin watched the exchange and smiled, wondering who this former Dragon Army soldier, probably an officer, was and what she was doing in this town.
The Archmagus did not have long to ponder before a young mage, dressed in black robes, entered the Inn and ordered a drink at the bar. Faylin observed as the boisterous adventurer poked fun at the mage, allowing herself only a small comment about his robes that was irresistible. She could see that he was annoyed by the attention; and his discomfort amused her.
She was sizing him up, perhaps this one will make a good apprentice, she thought, we shall see.
As she considered another angle to draw out his anger and push his limit, the Archmagus A'ryndil Astia'mar entered the Inn and went over to speak to the young mage. She was visibly shaken and their conversation quickly became heated. As the volume increased Faylin heard the Archmagus refer to the young mage as "Beau" and "dear brother," then she knew. With a gleeful smirk Falin watched the pair retire to an upstairs room to continue their discussion in private.
Faylin let out a cold chuckle. "I will have a talk with that one," she whispered. "He has just become worth my time."
