The Black Moon

Waxing and waning, soaring in the skies
The black moon swings and remains veiled from ordinary eyes,
To whom it calls, it draws them near,
Enveloping their souls, replacing their tears,
Intoxicating and exhilarating magic it does create,
It grants dark power to those chosen by fate,

Alluring and perilous, calling from the sky,
Seducing many to submission with barely a try,
The mind must stay as quick as it is strong,
Or you’ll end up losing control before too long,

The shadow that creeps over children at night,
Those he terrorizes - their minds ignite,
And so they cower, alone, entranced,
Merely puppets that were born to dance,

There, arising over the horizon steadily,
I give myself unto you readily,
I will not lose control; I’ll harness this power,
He’s calling to me – this is my hour,

I know the cost that comes with my art,
My dearest dark moon I know my part,
Your calling knitted within me at conception,
Some say it is evil – I call it perception,

To all others who obliviously walk these lands,
Held together by such pathetic strands,
Of which they call friendship and love,
All of which I stand above,

If they step in the way of my art they will fall,
But no God will hear their dying call,
For they’ll suffer for their inequity,
And on them I shall not waste one ounce of pity,
There they’ll lay, their face contrite and disconsolate,
As they surrender to suffer an unfortunate fate,

This vow to you I make,
Here is my life, it's yours to take.

*A panther wanders about in search of a particular gentleman, should she find him - she reveals her neck, exposing a carefully rolled and tied scroll. It seems it may be warded by simple spells.*

If accepted and read:

*The following missive has been adroitly attended to, the letter formation has been completed with immense care and the words chosen have been penned with evident consideration.*

It reads:

Master Gilfaen,

My name is Arysta Halyn, and your senses were correct, I am a child of the art, though, you may recall me as Aly.

Magic, which is intrinsically fused to the very essence of my being, is sacred and best kept veiled from eyes that lack - perspective. There has been no formality of stewardship over my studies. Yet, I have managed to learn adequate amounts of knowledge which enable me to cast simple spells aiding me on my journeys. I require so much more knowledge and the lengths, in which I would go to pursue such, are without boundaries within the context of magic law.

My desire and intention is to keep studying, responsibly, by the codes of the conclave. I know this entails giving my life to my art and I am ready because without my art – I am nothing. I wish to further my evolution through education and study, eventually dedicating my time to the advancement of the arcane art. I was wondering if you could recommend a school or a mentor who I may seek out for further discussion pertaining to this matter.

Truly, I am apologetic for my somewhat abrasive manner upon our primary acquainting with one another. Public conversations are not my forte I prefer a more subtle existence due to my values concerning my beloved art. Nevertheless, should I have offended you; I extend my hand with sincere regret for my impetuous words.

Respectfully,
Arysta Halyn

((**If not accepted: The letter can be kept, passed along to another person, dropped or given back to the panther… in other words do with it as you will, if the panther could not find him, please let me know so I can explore other avenues. Thanks!)) - ooc

Gilfaen wakes up from his sleep at the inn of Zaradene. It is a long road to the Tower, and now he is refreshed to make the journey. He leaves his room after dispelling the enchanments upon the door that allowed him a safe and comfortable rest.

He goes downstairs, and returns the room key to the bartender with a thanks, and a few steel coins as extra payment. He fills his wineskin with drink for the road, and turns to leave the inn.

As he steps outside, he turns towards the road that leads to the caravans. He stops when he notices the sleek black Panther resting under a nearby tree. Normally he would not put much thought into the animal, however a panther in the middle of Zaradene is not normal. Gilfaen senses something magical about this particular animal.

He leaves the road and approaches the animal cautiously, yet unafraid. He brings the spell to mind that will send this animal to another plane should it leap to the attack. The panther notices his approach, and gets defensive for a moment, until the scent of the man catches his finely tuned sense of smell. The recognition hits the panther that this man is the man he seeks. The panther stands and approaches Gilfaen slowly. It tilts its head looking to the black robe for a second, then comes forward. It lifts it neck slightly and paws at the enchanted note tied to it.

Gilfaen sees the note, and moves forward to retrieve it, He takes a few moments to read the note carefully; making sure to fully comprehend every syllable. After he is done reading, Gilfaen slowly nods; and casts a simple spell. A piece of parchment and a quill appear in the air next to him. He begins to whisper some words and the quill starts to wrrite upon the parchment. When he is done speaking, he snaps his fingers and the quill disappears and the parchment rolls itself. Gilfaen grabs the paper, and enchants the scroll to seal itself.

He leans in the fastens the rolled parchment to the neck of the panther, and casts a spell upon the thing.

"Fly with swift feet to your master. Return this to her and do not delay."

The panther, enchanted, runs off with blinding speed, dissappearing around the corner. Gilfaen, having a new purpose, casts himself a spell that takes him to the tower quickly. He completes his business there, and returns to Zaradene. He must be there to speak with this one further.

((The return note has been sent in a PM to the player))
