PostSubject: Build/Class guidelines   Thu Mar 12, 2009 10:06 am

1. Harper Scout is a class of the Forgotten Realms setting, and therefore is not permitted on DLCO.
---Sorcorers are not banned, but they are with DM approval. Some prestige classes need sorcerers to get them
---At current, The Purple Dragon Knight is Prohibited, for it is a Forgotten Realsm class and does not exist in Dragonlance.

Red Dragon Disciple may be permitted as a class, but only after the Player has demonstrated a great Role Play background and concept for the character, and has proven their focus is not upon power gaming.

The RDD shall be used as a template for all Half Dragon characters, the HDM will use leto to give the appropriate wings to the character as well as immunities and so on for that particular race template. The player shall give the character a draconic like appearance I.E. Red skin and horned head for a Half Red Dragon.

The Champion of Torm is a prestige class limited to the service of the Gods of light of a lawful alignment. Those being, A Knight of Solamnia, or Paladin in service to Paladine himself.

2. Clerics, Druids and Shifters gain the powers from the divinity of the gods, and to a lesser degree so do Monks.

The Player will choose from the appropriate domains for their character's faith and ethos if they create a cleric.

The player will choose an appropriate faith for their divine spellcasting class or monastic order.

Such as, are no Clerics of Chemosh with the Healing and/or Sun domains, there are no Druids of Sargonnas, Shifters of Chislev do not choose unnatural shapes such as constructs and undead, There are no Monks of Zeboim.

Monks will have limitations upon their class build combinations according to their ethos.

The Dragon Shape ability is not prohibited, however; Dragons are the domains of the gods, and as such, can take direct involvement with the character. For this reason it is discouraged.; because some players will not like an evil god interfering with their good character.

If you do not want your character involved in role play and situations that go against their make up and ethos, then stay away from dragon shape, period! If you choose dragon shape, and are interfered with by a god, then deal with it. You chose it, knowing the possible outcome.

3. All classes have a 5 level minimum attached to them. Prestige classes may be chosen, and certain guidelines are in place.
One prestige class taken: 10 levels minimum
Two prestige classes taken: 5 levels minimum each
No maximum

This is to ensure equal building of characters, and a fair world for all to enjoy.
Exceptions can be made and may be allowed only after the Player has demonstrated a great Role play background and concept for the character, and has proven their focus is not upon power gaming.

Based on the Role Play of characters, a free re-level for the toon may be granted with no level restrictions in place. Players that show little Roleplay and more “need to be the best” attitude of power gaming, shall not be considered for re-level.

4. Build limitations
Character builds that are unrealistic and exploitive for the purpose of power gaming, are prohibited.
Some examples of, but not limited too are:
Paladin/Rogue/Pale Master or Monk/Rogue/Sorcerer

If there are any questions or comments or suggestions, please direct them to a PM to a member of the DM staff

As per Xeons' post, the Harper scout was excluded due to it being a FR class, and also because the specifics of the groups creation really do not fit with Dragonlance.

The Purple Dragon Knight is currently being discussed for other purposes, and no decision has been made on it. Perhaps as on offset to the CoT or another warrior class all together. We weill inform the players when and if we have a decision ready.

The Champion of torm class is still included, because the FR diety Torm, and Paladine share pretty much the same ethos and dogma, and the CoT fits well for the Knights of Solamnia

Lastly, as Lestat inquired, there is no level cap for classes, but the minimums must be observed.

As it says, with exceptional RP, beyond the usual, some characters may be allowed a rebuild for free with little to no limitations. Some players are in this class for consideration, but that is a secret order being kept close to the vest.

If Xenos or anyone would like to start a new thread concerning the CoT vs. Blackguard Debate, then please do so in the OOC section of the forums. Ideas can be garnered from it, and it would be interesting to see the ideas and points made regardless.
